Twilight Times Books

Twilight Times Books was established January 1999 as an Internet epublisher. In 2004, we expanded our operations and evolved into a small trade publisher. Due to an exceptional front list of books, all with four star reviews, the print division of Twilight Times Books launched twenty-one titles in trade paperback in 2004. Over sixty titles are currently in print and we plan to release eighteen titles in 2009.

Our books have national distribution and the author pays nothing for publication of his/her book. We currently publish literary works that are exemplary, that transcend genres and/or are beautifully written. We are highly selective as to what we will accept for publication.

Our books are distributed internationally through BCH and Florida Academic Press (FAP Books, Inc.). Members of the media, booksellers and retails can download flyers, sell sheets, reviews and chapter excerpts from our media room.

Twilight Times Books is pleased to announce the recent release of Dog: Pure Awareness, non-fiction (Pets/Reference) by Margot Lasher, Ph.D.; trade paperback.

Promo blurb: Dog: Pure Awareness is a psychological and ultimately spiritual exploration of the human-dog connection. People think of their dogs as companions, as partners, and as members of their family, and this book takes that idea seriously.

Hiding Hand, SF suspense by Lee Denning; trade paperback.

Promo blurb: The boy Joshua comes of age in a blistering conflict between the love of power and the power of love. As the precursor of the next stage of human evolution, he must confront more than the forces arrayed against him: the greater danger is the dark side of his evolving self. Joshua's baby sister Eva is the first true Nova sapiens--an Earth Mother, a potential Messiah for troubled humanity. She is kidnapped by the darkest of beings, a brilliant psychopath masquerading as a pious Muslim cleric; he wants the power of the Novas all to himself.

A mysterious young Muslim woman, Elia, is accidentally rescued from the cleric by Joshua. She helps him on his mission to rescue Eva, using her strange rapport with psychic forces. They fall in love, a thing forbidden to her and unwise for him.

Joshua is slowly stripped of his resources, then Elia is captured. Joshua now has only his mind and soul to rely on to rescue Eva, and the cleric's power nibbles away at his mind. Finalist in the "New Age Fiction" category of the National Best Books 2008 Awards.

Past Present I: Web of Lies, mainstream by Celia A. Leaman; trade paperback.

Promo blurb: Anne Graham's dream is to become financially independent through her writing. She's almost finished her first novel when she meets Graham Kingsley, a worldly older man. Taken in by his charm, she moves into an apartment on Graham's estate, but her contentment ends abruptly when he takes her to an ancient manor house on Dartmoor and proposes marriage. Anne is stunned because she recognizes the house; she's written about it in detail in her novel, despite never having seen it before.

Just prior to their wedding, Anne meets another man and falls in love, yet she still goes ahead with her marriage. Almost immediately, her misgivings are realized as startling facts begin to emerge about Graham's past. Worse still, she fears for her sanity when she begins seeing images of the characters in her book, when the past seems to be mingling with the present. Events spin out of her control and, caught in a web of deception and treachery, Anne is forced to make a decision that will have far-reaching consequences.
http://twilighttimesbooks.com/PastPresentI_ch1.html

Author Profile: Celia Leaman was raised in Devon, England. After moving to Canada in 1980, she had short stories published in magazines in the UK, Canada, the United States and South Africa. One of these was translated into Braille. She also wrote and co-directed a play, performed on Galiano Island, BC.

Celia writes in several genres. Her more serious novels, her first being Mary's Child, reflect her love of the South Devon moors in England. When Mary's Child was first released, it was a Frankfurt eBook Award and a Reviewers Choice Award nominee.

http://twilighttimesbooks.com/Rebel_ch1.html

Author Profile: Beverly Stowe McClure is a fourth-generation Texan, born in Wichita Falls, currently living in Iowa Park with her husband, Jack. They have three sons, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. (She married very young.) She taught in elementary school for twenty-two years and was selected Conservation Teacher of the Year in her district in 1988.

Saga of Rim, YA fantasy by Cecilia Wennerström; trade paperback.

Promo blurb: One night a rip of light floats in the air over Petra's bedroom floor. Through it she enters another world, Rim, a pleasant land where farming as well as computers, magic and teleportation are the daily norm. Dream Realm Award Winner.
http://twilighttimesbooks.com/SagaofRim_ch1.html

Reviewer comments: "Petra Bravo first learned of the Land on the Rim of Time when she was transported there to defeat a rather minor threat. During her brief stay, she learned about the eons old land out of time where magical beings descended from demons lived and observed other worlds. It was a peaceful, happy place, with only one enemy, a demon who refused to be adapted into a peaceful creature and now lurked in a void, waiting to re-enter some world and wreak havoc. Upon returning home, it all becomes rather like a dream, a distant memory to Petra. Then, one of her friends takes control of her cat to warn her that the demon, Ragmor is poised to strike. Petra is needed to help defeat him. So it is that she embarks on a fantastic odyssey where her inner strength is her greatest weapon. Demonized gnomes, ages old mythic evils, and beings that are purely mean will stand in her way using trickery and cruelty to hinder her quest. Then, when facing her foe, love may be the thing that overcomes her. If you are a fan of quests and fantastic worlds, no matter your age, you will be charmed by this book. It has a sweetness and grit that all classic fairy tales share, and an originality that keeps it from being tired and trite."

--Amanda Faye, The Eternal Night

Author Profile: Cecilia Wennerström is a jazz musician, saxophone player, composer and arranger, educated at the music academies in Malmoe and Gothenburg. She was born in 1947 and lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

Since 1994 she has played baritone saxophone with the internationally known Swedish tenor saxophone player Nisse Sandströms 10-piece band which plays transcriptions of Miles Davis/Gil Evans tuba band music. One of Sweden's best jazz singers, Peo Jönis, is the leader of a ladies big band, Satin Dolls, where Wennerström has played the baritone sax for several years and also does some arranging for the band. Satin Dolls is an entertainment band and has been quite involved with Swedish television.

The Solomon Scandals, suspense by David Rothman; trade paperback.

Promo blurb: CIA skulduggery. Hundreds dead in a fallen IRS building. Corruption and blackmail from the Oval Office. D.C.-quirky sex scandals. A gossip columnist’s suicide. The death of a shark-like editor in a car bombing. Reporter Jonathan Stone lives through it all, until one day he forsakes Washington for Hollywood to write history disguised as conspiracy movies.
http://twilighttimesbooks.com/SolomonScandals_ch1.html

What people are saying:
"If only the cesspool of corruption Rothman plumbs so well in the past did not persist even today in Washington, where the first purpose of politics seems to remain the divvying up of spoils among secret cronies."
~ James Polk, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Watergate coverage for the Washington Star

"The Solomon Scandals is a mordantly entertaining book that broadens the cast of the standard Washington novel beyond spymasters and politicians to include real estate barons and federal contract officers. David Rothman's detailed knowledge of the D.C. scene comes through in his satire. Scandals is set in yesterday's Washington, but it is about truths behind today's headlines--and about the troubled newspapers that publish the headlines.

"Like Boomsday and others of the best recent Washington novels, it amuses while broadening our understanding of how today's government works--and doesn't."
~ James Fallows, author of Breaking the News.

"David Rothman's bright, breezy, fast-paced, and funny novel shines a merciless spotlight on greed, skulduggery and fraud within government, catching President Bullard like a deer in the headlights. But what resonates with me, as a long-time investigative journalist, is protagonist Jonathan Stone's nightmare in getting his explosive findings into print. Seemingly the Washington Post hungered for every syllable Woodward and Bernstein could dig up on Watergate. However, it's not always that easy. Stone's fictional struggle to write and publish his expose is more than a shadow of the truth."
~ Bettina Gregory, former ABC News Correspondent
